YUVIKA; ISRO young scientist programme. ISRO – Indian Space Research Organisation is organizing Young Scientist Programme called YUVIKA – YUva VIgyani KAryakram, a scientist programme for School Children. The programme aims to impart basic knowledge on Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications to the younger talents with a special preference to rural areas. The programme is helps to create awareness about the emerging trends in science and technology amongst the youngsters, who are the future building blocks of our nation. Also the programme helps to encourage more students to pursue in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) based research /career.

 

YUVIKA – 2022:

The YUVIKA2022 will be a two weeks residential programme during summer holidays [May 16 to 28, 2022]. The programme is planned to have invited talks, experience sharing by eminent scientists, demonstration of experiments, lab visits, sessions for discussions, practical and feedback.

 

The YUVIKA2022 is planned at five centres of ISRO;

  • Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram
  • R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru
  • Space Application Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad
  • National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Hyderabad
  • North-East Space Application Centre (NE-SAC), Shillong

At the end of the programme, the participant students will be taken to visit of Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.  Expenditure towards the travel of student (II AC fare by train from nearest Railway Station to the reporting centre and back), course material, lodging and boarding etc., during the entire course will be borne by ISRO. Also a II AC train fare will also be provided to one guardian/ parent for drop and pick up of student from the reporting centre.

The programme is designed for 150 students across the country, who will be studying in Ninth grade at a school located in the Indian subcontinent by March 1, 2022.

The selection will be on the basis;

  • Marks obtained in Class 8th examination.
  • Science fair Participation (school / district / state & above level organised by school / district / state / Central government authority) in last 3 Yrs.
  • Prize in Olympiad / Science competitions and equivalent (1 to 3 rank in last 3 years at school / district / state & above level) in last 3 Yrs.
  • Win in Sports Competitions (conducted by School / Govt. / Institutions / Registered Sports federation I – III ranks in last 3 Yrs.) Online games will not be considered.
  • Member (Scout & guides / NCC / NSS in last 3 Yrs.)
  • Performance in Online-Quiz.
  • Special weightage to candidates studying in school located in panchayat area.

Dates Chart:

  • Registration Begins: 10th March, 2022 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Closing of Registration: 10th April, 2022 – 04:00 p.m.
  • Provisional selection list: 20th April, 2022
  • YUVIKA 2022: 16-28th May, 2022
